The Business & Human Resources Manager will be a highly detail-oriented individual to manage the general ledger, administer payroll and other HR activities, oversee office management & assist the Director of Finance & Administration with reporting, reconciliation & management of a $10 million operating budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include management of day-to-day accounting functions including reconciliation of all bank/ GL accounts, journal entries, monthly close, all payroll functions including PR liabilities, year end – W2’s, 1099’s, daily deposits & cash disbursements, AP. Maintain accounting procedures manual, will provide key support for audit, and other administration duties as needed.

Human Resources (HR) functions include new hire orientations, employee benefits administration, employee policy maintenance, workers comp, unemployment, other required reporting.

Qualifications
Candidate must have thorough knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and payroll (strong preference for performing arts/unions). Must be an organized/efficient independent worker with excellent proficiency in QuickBooks is preferred. Strong preference for candidates with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar position.

Compensation

New Position: Technical Director

Signature Theatre, a Tony Award®-winning LORT B theater in the Washington DC metro, seeks an experienced Technical Director. Signature produces an average of eight mainstage productions each season in two flexible-seating black box spaces: the 275 seat Max Theatre and the 112 seat Ark. We also produce a series of cabarets, a student production through our education department, and facilitate a series of readings and workshops of new works.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Technical Director is responsible for all aspects of planning and executing scenery for company productions, participates in the design and engineering of new seating configurations for the theaters, and works closely with the Production Manager in budgeting and planning scenery needs for the season.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants will possess a diverse background in scenic construction, engineering, overhead rigging, and automation; excellent problem solving and communication skills; proficiency with Autocad and Creative Conners systems; and be a strong collaborator. New Position: Scenic Charge Artist

Qualifications
Qualified applicants will possess a strong background in a broad range of scenic painting techniques and have prior experience painting for live theater.
Candidates should also possess excellent problem solving and communication skills and be a strong collaborator. Must be able to lift 75+ pounds unaided and in repetition and be comfortable working at height, when needed.

Compensation

Bartender

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Welcoming customers, determining customer beverage preferences, making recommendations, taking drink and food orders
  • Answering basic inquiries about the current shows such as length, intermission time and basic content warnings.

Signature Theatre, a Tony Award®-winning, non-profit professional theater, in Arlington, Virginia seeks a part-time Cook for Ali’s Bar, located inside Signature Theatre. The Cook will prep ingredients, prepare existing menu items from recipes, and know the safe and proper methods of food preparation and operation of different kitchen appliances and utensils. The Cook will also provide input to the Head Chef and Food and Beverage Manager in dish creation and basic kitchen maintenance and cleaning.

  • Preopening kitchen prep work – including meis-en-place, pre shift inventory and cleaning.
  • Preparing menu items and plating according to recipes and/or direction of the Head Chef.

Food Expeditor and Dishwasher

Signature Theatre, a Tony Award®-winning, non-profit professional theater, in Arlington, Virginia seeks a part-time Food Expeditor and Dishwasher, to assist a busy kitchen at Ali’s Bar, located inside Signature Theatre.

The Food Expeditor and Dish Washer will be responsible for maintaining the flow of orders from the bar to the kitchen to the diners, ensuring orders are completed quickly and correctly, assisting with the finishing touches on dishes, and conducting quality control on each dish and delivering food to either bartender or to diners at their tables. This position will also be responsible for busing and sanitizing dining tables, collecting utensils and properly cleaning and restocking supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Informing the bartenders when certain dishes or ingredients have run out and passing food requests from the bartenders to the kitchen.
  • Ensuring that all orders are completed in time and with the correct priority.
  • Inspecting the cleanliness, presentation, and temperature of completed dishes.
  • Performing the finishing touches to completed dishes, such as adding garnishes and removing smudges.

Building Engineer

Signature Theatre, an award-winning theater company in the Washington DC metro area, seeks a Building Engineer. Signature operates a 47,000 square foot facility in the Shirlington development of Arlington County. We produce over a dozen musicals, plays, cabarets, and special events across four venues in the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Building Engineer performs daily inspections of Signature’s three building campus, notes all maintenance needs, performs routine maintenance and repair on the buildings, hires and supervises contractors and vendors as needed, and coordinates with the Arlington County facilities team on shared responsibilities.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates will be self-motivated and able to work independently, have a collaborative attitude, and have strong values for safe working practices. Experience with a broad range of trade craft preferred, but motivated candidates able and willing to teach themselves new skills are encouraged to apply. Associate Artistic Director

Tony Award®-Winner Signature Theatre, widely known for its innovative productions of new and reimagined musicals and plays, seeks a new Associate Artistic Director.   • Directing productions, readings, workshops, concerts and/or cabarets, if appropriate to candidate’s experience and interests
  • Playing a leading role in season planning: reading and recommending musicals and plays for the season and developing projects for future seasons
  • Acting as Line Producer for assigned mainstage productions and cabarets, including attending casting sessions, production meetings, technical rehearsals, previews, and other production related events
  • Building and maintaining strong industry relationships with both known and emerging playwrights and composers, as well as literary agents
  • Working with Artistic Director and visiting directors to assemble production creative teams

Signature Theatre, a Tony Award®-winning, non-profit professional theater, in Arlington, Virginia is seeking part-time Ushers to join our Front of House Team. Ushers are responsible for providing a high standard of guest service to achieve and maintain customer loyalty from both subscribers and single ticket buyers, maximize revenue for the Signature Shop, and ensure the safety of Patrons and Artists. Ushers report to the Front of House Operations Manager and House Manager on Duty. Ushers are expected to facilitate the best patron experience possible at mainstage Signature productions, cabarets, and other events throughout the year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet all patrons entering Signature’s Max or Ark Theatre, checking, or scanning for valid tickets.
  • Be personal and pro-active in aiding all guests with the highest level of customer service and hospitality.
  • Assist guests by providing accurate directions to seating sections within the theatres.
  • Receive and quickly act upon requests or complaints from patrons; refer serious problems to the House Manager on Duty.
  • Retain knowledge of the Signature Theatre’s history, staff, and emergency activity procedures.

  • Aid the House Manager on duty to patrons in the event of an accident or injury.

Compensation

The Usher position is a part-time, hourly non-exempt job with an hourly rate of $13.00/hr.
