The Signature Show: Private Jones Behind-the-Scenes
This month on The Signature Show, we are kicking off the start of performances for Private Jones with a behind-the-scenes look at the rehearsal process for this world premiere musical. Plus, get to know some of the incredible Deaf and hard-of-hearing artists in the show. To close the show, Matthew Scott performs a new arrangement of Stephen Sondheim’s “Children Will Listen” from his new solo album.
The Signature Show: The Holiday Episode
Happy Holidays on The Signature Show! Awa Sal Secka and Teal Wicks kick things off with a rendition of Chuck Berry’s “Run Rudolph Run” accompanied by Stephen Arnold, Angel Bethea, Alec Green and William Yanesh. Then the children of Ragtime compete in The Signature Holiday Showdown Game hosted by Nkrumah Gatling. To end the show and to celebrate Hanukkah, Robbie Schaefer and Danielle Wertz perform “Hanukkah Blessings.”
The Signature Show: Spooky Season and a Behind-the-Scenes Look at Ragtime
On this month’s episode of The Signature Show we feature two incredible performances: Tori Gomez and Mariachi Aguila DC perform “Remember Me” from the film Coco, and to close the show Cara Rose DiPietro, William Yanesh and Cristian Perez perform “Science Fiction Double Feature” from The Rocky Horror Show. And since performances of Ragtime start tonight, we’re going behind-the-scenes with director Matthew Gardiner, music director Jon Kalbfleisch, choreographer Ashleigh King and cast members Teal Wicks, Bobby Smith, Nkrumah Gatling and Awa Sal Secka.
The Signature Show: A Very Jason Robert Brown Episode
To celebrate the opening of the first show in our 2023/24 season, our Director of Artistic Development Anika Chapin sat down with The Bridges of Madison County‘s composer, Jason Robert Brown, to talk about how he brought the best-selling novel to the stage. Then spend a fun day at the Arlington County Fair with cast members Julia Wheeler Lennon and Nolan Montgomery. We close this month’s show with one of our favorite songs from Jason Robert Brown, “Hear My Song” from Songs for a New World performed by Rayshun LaMarr, Crystal Mosser, Sarah Anne Sillers, Alex Stone and pianist Natalie Brooke.
The Signature Show: A Trip to the Barbershop
We kick off this month’s Signature Show celebrating Pride month as Bobby Smith returns to sing “I Am What I Am” from La Cage aux Folles with Carson Eubank accompanying. Then, our Sweeney Todd, Nathaniel Stampley, gets a lesson in how to do a straight razor shave from our neighbor Spud Willis at The Bearded Goat Barber in Shirlington. Stick around until the end to hear Erin Driscoll, Jimmy Mavrikes, Bob McDonald, Donna Migliaccio, Katie Mariko Murray, Awa Sal Secka, Paul Scanlan, Chani Wereley, Tobias A. Young and pianist William Yanesh perform “Sunday” from Sunday in the Park with George as they help us toward our goal to give voice to all of Sondheim’s songs by the end of the season.

The Signature Show: A Behind the Scenes Look at Pacific Overtures
This month on The Signature Show we are taking you behind the scenes into the upcoming production of Pacific Overtures. Taiko Consultant Mark H Rooney demonstrates the 6 foot tall Odaiko that is being used in the production, and cast members Eymard Meneses Cabling, Jason Ma, Daniel May, Jonny Lee Jr., and director Ethan Heard take you inside the rehearsal room. Stick around until the end of the video to see Signature co-founder Donna Migliaccio and pianist Howard Breitbart perform “Broadway Baby” from Follies to continue our Sharing Sondheim mission.
The Signature Show: Love Songs and Sondheim
Welcome back to The Signature Show! This month we’re joined by Barrett Wilbert Weed and Jon Kalbfleisch performing “Another Hundred People” to help us cross another song off of our Sharing Sondheim list. After our sold out run of our tribute cabaret First Lady of Song: Ella Fitzgerald last week, we’re bringing you a bit of the show with “How High The Moon” performed by Ayo and Rochelle Rice. And as a tribute to our 20th year of Signature’s professional training program, Overtures: The Musical Theater Institute, two of the program’s alumni, Adelina Mitchell and Derrick Truby, close out the show with “All I’ve Ever Known” from Hadestown.
The Signature Show: Celebrating Stephen Sondheim
To mark the first anniversary of Sondheim’s passing, Signature dedicates this month’s Signature Show to celebrating his genius. Cast members of the upcoming show Which Way to the Stage, Mike Millan and Dani Stoller, test their knowledge of Sondheim’s lyrics in a game called “Sondheim or Someone Else?” Plus, amazing performances of two of Sondheim’s songs: Tracy Lynn Olivera, Max Murray, Jess Eliot Myhre, Cristian Perez and Dante’ Pope perform a new Mark G. Meadows arrangement of “Live Alone and Like It” from the film Dick Tracy, and Awa Sal Secka and Lenny Williams close out the show with a bossa nova inspired “Love, I Hear” from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
The Signature Show: Into the Woods, New Music and Spooky Season
Step into the rehearsal room for Into the Woods. Performances for Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s fantastical musical adventure start in less than two weeks, so we sat down with cast members Alex De Bard, Jake Loewenthal, David Merino, and Erin Weaver to talk more about the production. Need a last-minute Halloween look? Makeup designer Alison Samantha Johnson has you covered with a spooky makeup tutorial with Maria Rizzo. Finally, we’ve got another new and incredible music performance for you: Solomon Parker III, Tobias A. Young, Raquel Jennings and Troy Anthony perform Troy Anthony’s song “I Want to Live”, in honor of Mosaic Theater’s current production of The Till Trilogy by Ifa Bayeza.
