Other Ways to Give
Thank you for considering a gift to support Signature! From individual retirement accounts and donor-advised funds to stock gifts and the Combined Federal Campaign, check out other ways to support Signature below.
Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the workplace giving program of the federal government of the United States.
The CFC is the annual opportunity for members of the federal community to support charities they care about through monetary and volunteer contributions. It is an employee-focused, cost-efficient, federally regulated program aimed at raising much needed funds for participating charities such as Signature. This includes civilian federal employees, active duty military members, Postal Service employees, federal retirees, and federal contractors.
You can support Signature through the Combined Federal Campaign with Charity ID #56138 Signature Theatre, Inc. and Federal Tax ID #62-1417785.
Donor-Advised Funds (DAF)
Donor-advised funds (DAF) are a centralized vehicle for charitable giving. With a DAF, charitably inclined individuals, families and businesses make an irrevocable gift to a public charity that sponsors a donor-advised fund program and may take an immediate tax deduction. Donors can then recommend grants over time to IRS-qualified 501(c )(3) public charities like Signature Theatre.
How does it work?
- Establish your Donor Advised Fund by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program
- Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets (any investment growth is tax-free)
- Recommend grants to qualified public charities of your choice
Since the original contribution to the DAF provided the maximum tax deduction, the donor-advisor cannot receive any benefits that would change the value of the tax deduction. However, the donor-advisor can receive benefits that have insubstantial or no fair market value.
When donating to Signature through a DAF, please authorize your fund manager to release your name so that we can record the gift properly and advise them to mail the check to: Signature Theatre, Development Office, 4200 Campbell Avenue, Arlington, VA 22206. For more information, please contact the Development Office at 571 527 1828 or development@sigtheatre.org.
Employee/Corporate Matching Gifts
Many employers match donations to charitable organizations for their employees, retirees and family members. Employer matching gifts can double your donation to Signature.
To initiate a matching gift, check with the human resources department at your employer. If the employer uses a matching gift form, please complete and either scan and email it to development@sigtheatre.org or mail it to: Signature Theatre, Development Office, 4200 Campbell Avenue, Arlington, VA 22206.
Gift Memberships
Give the gift of Friends of Signature benefits and privileges to your loved ones, friends and colleagues to make their experience at Signature even more enjoyable while supporting our ability to produce contemporary musicals and plays, reinvent classic musicals, develop new work, and reach the community through engaging and thoughtful educational and outreach opportunities. To purchase a gift membership, please contact the Development Office at 571 527 1828 or development@sigtheatre.org. More information on benefits can be found here.
Giving Through Your Estate
You can include Signature Theatre in your trust, will, or bequest in the form of a planned gift. Signature’s Ever After Society honors individuals that have chosen to arrange a planned gift with a value of $5,000 or above. For more information, please click here.
Individual Retirement Account (IRA)
You can make a tax-free gift to Signature Theatre from your IRA. Anyone over age 70½ can avoid taxes by making a gift directly from an individual retirement account.
As you may know, the IRA Charitable Rollover has been signed into permanent law. This means that you can make a qualified charitable distribution to the Theatre from your IRA without paying income taxes on the contribution; however, the contribution does not qualify as a charitable gift for tax purposes.
Specific requirements include:
- You must be at least 70½ years old.
- You must decline goods or services.
- Your rollover may not exceed $105,000.
Additionally, please consider making Signature a beneficiary of your retirement plan; it is both tax efficient and as easy as changing the beneficiary form with your IRA administrator and designating Signature Theatre as a primary, contingent or partial beneficiary.
To make a gift, please send a letter to your IRA administrator requesting a direct charitable distribution to Signature Theatre in the amount you wish to donate. The letter should include Signature’s Tax ID #62-1417785.
For a sample letter or for more information please contact the Development Office at 571 527 1828 or development@sigtheatre.org.
In-Kind Donations
In-kind donations are contributions of goods or services, other than cash. Due to very limited storage space, not all items can be accepted, so please contact the Development Office at 571 527 1828 or development@sigtheatre.org to confirm your gift can be accepted.
Stock Donations/Gifts of Securities
Signature gratefully accepts gifts of stock/securities; donations can be made to Signature’s account with Charles Schwab, DTC #0164 (account #: AL 8157-9755).
