I'm having trouble ordering online - what do I do?

SigTheatre.org requires you to enable cookies in order to use our online ticketing. Once you have enabled cookies, please clear your browser history. If issues persist, please email tickets@sigtheatre.org or call our Box Office at 703.820.9771. Fees for online and phone transactions are the same, so no need to worry that you will pay extra to order online.

What time should I arrive at the theatre? What if I'm late?

The theatre opens 90 minutes prior to each performance; seating begins approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the performance. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes prior to the performance, especially if your tickets are at Will Call. Late seating is at the discretion of the House Managers, and patrons may have to wait several minutes before being admitted for an appropriate break in the action. Patrons who arrive late may be sat in different locations from their original seats and may return to the original seats after intermission.

What do I do if I can't find my ticket?

The Box Office will be happy to resend your electronic tickets or print your tickets for a small fee. Please call us in advance or arrive at least 15 minutes before the performance.

Does Signature charge ticketing fees?

Signature charges a $7 ticketing fee per ticket for single tickets to mainstage performances and a $5 ticketing fee per ticket for cabaret performances purchased online or by phone. No fee is charged for a single ticket purchased in person at the Box Office.

All package purchases incur a $10 ticketing fee per package, regardless of the method of purchase.

For more information about ticketing policies and exchange fees, please visit our Ticket Policies and Discounts page.

Do I need to show an ID or credit card to pick up my tickets?

You may pick up tickets at the Box Office. Normally all you will need is the first and last name that the tickets are held under. If you purchased tickets using one of our standard discount options, such as student, educator, or military discounts, you will need to show a valid ID. Please see our Ticket Policies and Discounts page for more details.

Can I return/exchange my ticket?

All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. However, Signature does have a flexible exchange policy for both single ticket holders and subscribers, which allows for tickets purchased for a production to be exchanged for another day/time of that same show. Please visit our ticketing policies page for complete details.

Where can I eat something before the show?

Ali's Bar is located on the 2nd floor of Signature Theatre and is open 90 minutes prior to showtime. Click here to view the current menu.

The Village at Shirlington also offers a host of lunch and dinner options. Visit The Village at Shirlington's website to see all offerings.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

Signature Theatre rarely cancels performances due to inclement weather. Should a performance need to be cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, barring widespread power and internet outages, a notice will be posted on the home page of our website and on the outgoing message of our Box Office main phone line at 703.820.9771. We will also attempt to contact ticket holders for that performance by phone or email to notify them of the cancellation.

Performance cancellations are rare and are usually decided late in the afternoon for an evening performance.

Can I donate to the Theatre?

Yes! Signature Theatre is a non-profit 501(c)(3). For more information on how to donate, visit our Donate and Support page

What should I wear to the theater?

There is no official dress code for attending Signature Theatre. Our patrons usually dress in business casual attire for non-Opening Night performances and in formal business attire for Openings. However, we’d rather have a patron come in jeans and a sweatshirt than not come at all out of concern for how they are dressed.

Please be aware that on occasion the theatres can be slightly chilly, or sometimes a bit warm. Dressing in layers and bringing a sweater or pashmina is advisable.

What accessibility services do you offer?

Visit our accessibility page for more information on Signature's offerings.

Can I bring children? Is there an age limit?

In general, Signature’s performances are intended for adult audiences. Parents can use their best judgement when deciding to bring teens or younger children, we encourage you to read more about our performances here on the website or call our Box Office at 703.820.9771 to inquire if any performances have content that might be objectionable to those under 18.

Unless the performance is specifically for children, no one under 6 will be admitted.

Can I record the show or take pictures inside the theatre?

No pictures or video are allowed while the actors are on stage. You will be asked to delete any photos or videos captured during performances. However, you may take pictures or videos inside the theatre before the show, at intermission, or after the show.

Will there be haze, smoke, strobe lights, gun fire, nudity, etc?

Some of Signature’s shows contain content that some patrons might not enjoy. Signature does our best to put this information on our website in advance so that patrons can have it while making purchase decisions. Occasionally, some of these features will be added while the show is in rehearsal, and we might not know until a few days before performances begin.

We place notices about all of these items:

  • On the shows and events pages of the website (updated regularly).
  • In the pre-show email reminders.
  • On the house board just outside the theatre doors.

Please call the Box Office at 703.820.9771 should you have any questions about the content of a particular performance.
