A Cambodian survivor of the Khmer Rouge and her American-born daughter have always struggled to connect. After the death of the family patriarch, the women must navigate their fraught relationship in an affecting and heartbreaking exploration of the scars from generational trauma.
Please note that Dawn contains traumatic flashbacks involving implied sexual assault and the death of a child.
Dawn is presented as part of SigWorks: Monday Night New Play Readings, an initiative that highlights and supports the work of DMV and regional playwrights. This series is an opportunity for playwrights, actors, directors, designers, and patrons to explore new plays in a fun and informal environment.
