Get your tap shoes out! Dancer, choreographer, Broadway, film and TV actor Jared Grimes (Helen Hayes Award-winning choreographer of Signature’s Jelly’s Last Jam) leads participants in a class on rhythm tap – an improvisational dance style focused on storytelling through sound. Bring out your inner hoofer for this intermediate level class where the expressive beats take center stage.

Jared Grimes was the choreographer for Signature’s productions of Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Scottsboro Boys and Jelly’s Last Jam (Helen Hayes Award, Best Choreography) as well as numerous TV, film, concerts and Broadway shows. He appeared in A Soldier’s Play and After Midnight on Broadway and as Adrian Shannon on the NBC show Manifest. Jared has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Gregory Hines, Ben Vereen, Mariah Carey, Common, The Roots and more. Read his full biography at jaredmgrimes.com.

Participants in the Masterclass should be prepared with:

  • Tap Shoes (helpful, not required)
  • A small space for dancing
  • Tap board or other hard surface (kitchen floor, cement floor etc)

This class is intermediate level and is best for those who have some dance experience and want to learn more about this style of tap.

Masterclass will take place over Zoom.
