Dive into a funny and fierce world premiere comedy that transforms the ARK Theatre into a steamy southern waterway.
Betty and Kendra waste away a languid summer day fishing on the Alabama Delta. Suddenly, their lazy afternoon turns to chaos when the motor breaks, stranding the two, and their tumultuous relationship, in the Gulf.
Director of New Works Joe Calarco (The Flick) helms this provocative contemporary comedy, starring Rachel Zampelli and Maria Rizzo, by the exciting DC playwright Audrey Cefaly (Maytag Virgin).
The Gulf contains adult language, some violence, and sexual situations.
Running time for The Gulf is approximately one hour and twenty minutes, with no intermission.
The Gulf is sponsored by Rick Kasten.
The Gulf is a recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award.
New work at Signature Theatre is sponsored by The Reva & David Logan Foundation.
Evocative…Invested with an assured, soulful intimacy.
A sexy and edgy world premiere
Beautiful, bold, breathtaking.
Lovely and stirring.
Rizzo and Zampelli make a crackling pair.
Candid, honest and damn real.
Profoundly crafted with a striking emotional core…captivating.
