U.G.L.Y. is written by Darius Smith, the recipient of the 2015 Stephen Sondheim Young Artist Citation, and Michael R. Jackson. In small town Beulah, Alabama, a high school is thrown into confusion when a girl tries out for the wrestling team.

SigWorks: Musical Theater Lab is a new developmental workshop that furthers our mission to promote new theatrical work. The creators of two selected original musicals spend two intensive weeks working with Joe Calarco, Signature’s Director of New Works, refining their work, and the program culminates with public readings for both musicals.
