George Mason University student and Overtures: Musical Theater Institute alumna Adelina Mitchell was recently awarded the Andrew A. Isen Young Artist Gift by Signature Theatre. The gift of $2,500 is awarded to a college student from the Overtures program who has demonstrated excellence in their work.
“As a young artist, getting on your feet can be challenging, yet the Overtures program not only inspired me to brace ‘the real world’ fearlessly, but gave me the tools I needed to conquer it in stride,” said Adelina Mitchell. “Needless to say, I am very, very grateful for this gift. Thank you to the Signature staff who made this possible, and many thanks to Andrew Isen. When I said I’d make you proud, I meant it.”
The award is funded through a generous gift by Andrew A. Isen and was created to provide opportunities for young people who aspire to a career in the arts. The students will have the freedom to use this money however they best see fit for educational purposes.
“I’m thrilled that Adelina has been selected as the first recipient of this gift,” said Andrew A. Isen. “She is an amazingly talented young woman with great aspirations. I look forward to following her musical theater growth for many years to come.”
