Through movement, dialogue and improvisation, students will collaborate to create stories, characters, and scenes. Children will explore the fundamentals of theater in a fun and safe environment while developing communication, creative problem-solving skills and spatial awareness.

Sean Finan

Sean Finan

Sean Finan is a Washington, D.C. native, elementary school teacher, and educational theatre practitioner who specializes in using drama-based strategies to enrich core curriculum and support social-emotional development. For the past ten years, he has taught Language Arts and Social Studies at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School, where he merges his background in performing and directing with a passion for literacy instruction. Outside the classroom at SSSAS, Sean leads after-school and summer programs in creative theatre for elementary school students and Shakespeare for middle schoolers. He previously spent several years directing summer camp productions with Adventure Theatre MTC. An avid musical enthusiast, he is currently interested in developing a musical theatre history and literacy curriculum tailored for elementary and middle school students. He holds a BA in Theatre from Guilford College, an MA in Educational Theatre from New York University, and an M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction- Literacy Studies from University of Texas at Arlington.
