A celebratory day of free classes and coaching sessions in the Signature Theatre Education Studios!

Sign up now for one of eight intro sessions of dance, acting or music, and get a glimpse of Signature’s upcoming programs for learners of all levels and ages – from elementary school through adults.

Check out the class schedule and reserve your free tickets below!

Don’t feel like participating in a class but want to observe? Sign up for the observation only “Audition Preparation Masterclass;” or you can also stop by during the event to do a walk through of the space (space permitting). Additionally, the adult classes will offer limited room for observers (only parents/guardians may observe classes for students).

These classes will sell out. If you can no longer attend, please return your ticket in advance in My Account online or email tickets@sigtheatre.org so that we can offer the space to another participant.

Acting Games for Kids

For Ages 6-10

A super fun chance for kids to use their minds, bodies and voices to tell stories, create characters and to connect with others. Come dressed to move and ready to play! Parents are encouraged to sit and observe (and may even be given the opportunity to participate!) This will contain totally different games than the 11AM session!

11AM - 11:45AM

Musical Theater Fundamentals

For Ages 11-14

A crash course in musical theater basics for middle school aged students of all levels. Come dressed to move in comfortable clothes and dance shoes or sneakers and learn a brief excerpt of choreography and vocals from a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.

12PM - 12:45PM

Musical Theater Dance

For High School Students

A fun and energetic dance class for high school students of all levels. Move and groove to a classic musical theater song in this 45-minute dance class.

1PM - 1:45PM

Musical Theater Dance

For Adults

An active and awesome dance class for adults 18 and up of all levels. Move and groove to a classic musical theater song in this 45-minute dance class.

Audition Preparation Masterclass

Observation Only

Step into this masterclass and learn essential tools and rules for musical theater auditions. Watch as pre-selected students from one of Signature’s education programs prepare for their college auditions with coaching from a Signature affiliated artist.

Acting Games for Kids

For Ages 6-10

Introductory Acting

For Adults

Step into a participatory introduction to acting class which will inspire you to learn more. No experience necessary and no prepared materials are needed.

Improvisation

For Ages 11-14

Jump in and play in the freewheeling world of improvisation. No experience necessary. All you need to bring is a desire to learn, a sense of curiosity and play!

Individual Coaching

Monologue Feedback

For Adults and Teens 14+

Sit down with a Signature Artist in one of our new coaching rooms for 15 minutes of feedback and light coaching on a dramatic or comedic monologue you are working on. No experience necessary.

Song Feedback

For Adults and Teens 14+

Sit down with a Signature Artist and an accompanist in one of our new coaching rooms for 15 minutes of feedback and light coaching on a 32-bar cut of a song you are working on.

FAQs

When is the Education Studios Preview event?  

Saturday, September 19 from 10AM-2PM. If you do not wish to sign up for any of the free classes, you can still come to the studios during the preview event and walk through the space, seeing the classrooms and costume storage area (space permitting).

Are all activities at the Education Studios Preview event on September 19 free?

Yes! But online registration is required in advance for the classes. Click the links above to register for specific classes.

Do I have to register ahead of time for Education Studios Preview Day classes?  

Yes, advance registration is required. There might be limited space available for last minute drop ins, but to guarantee your spot register online in advance.

Can I sign up for more than one experience / class? 

Yes, but we ask that you spread the joy! Limit your choices to a maximum of 2 events so that more people can take advantage of this opportunity.

May I observe classes?  

Some of the classes are able to be observed. For classes with students under 18, only parents and guardians will be allowed to observe (space permitting). The private coaching rooms do not have space for any observers.
Please note: if you are observing, you do not need to register in advance.

What should I prepare for my class / coaching?  

Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email with detailed instructions.

Where are Signature’s Education Studios?  

The Education Studios are in the Village at Shirlington, just a block and a half down the street from Signature’s main theater, in the area near Dogma, Subway and The UPS Store (behind Thai Shirlington). The address is 2784 S. Arlington Mill Dr.
