Sit down with a Signature Artist in one of our new coaching rooms for 15 minutes of feedback and light coaching on a dramatic or comedic monologue you are working on. No experience necessary. Please bring a printed copy of your monologue to share with the coach.

David Zobell

David Zobell is Signature Theatre’s Education Director. His Signature in the Schools directing credits include Failureland!; The Possumneck Playhouse Presents Eli Thomas Neatherwood’s Award-Winning Adaptation of The Canterbury Tales; The Voices on Blackwell Island; The Pursued, The Pursuing, The Busy, and The Tired; Here’s the Deal; UnResigned; The Spoken Word; 12 Million Footsteps; Smile Lines; 295N; Veni, Vidi, Vici; Anne and Emmett (joint production with Arlington Public Schools); Hero Worship; Revolution; Un-American; and Shakespeare, Will (assistant director). Additional directing credits: Man to Man (premiere); Apologies; Dancing at Lughnasa (assistant director); and Walter Cronkite is Dead (Signature Theatre, premiere – assistant director). He has taught extensively with Signature Theatre, Adventure Theatre, The Rainbow Company (winner of the 2010 Children’s Theatre Association of America Medallion Award), Arlington County Public Schools Adult Education and Brigham Young University.

Matt Strote

Signature Theatre’s Education Program Manager, is a DC area educator, actor, director, writer and dramaturg. His Signature in the Schools assistant directing and dramaturgy credits include Failureland!; The Possumneck Playhouse...;The Voices of Blackwell Island; The Pursued, The Pursuing The Busy, and The Tired; Here’s the Deal; UnResigned; The Spoken Word; 12 Million Footsteps; Smile Lines; 295N; Veni, Vidi, Vici; Anne and Emmett (joint production with Arlington Public Schools); and Hero Worship. As a dramaturg for Signature Theatre his work includes: Gun and Powder; Titanic; West Side Story; Elmer Gantry; Cabaret; Threepenny Opera; and Cloak and Dagger. His dramaturgical work also supported the Kennedy Center premiere of Gigi. A graduate of The University of Maryland, College Park (BA Theatre / BA English), Matt has taught around the area in various capacities at several theatres for many years now. Some of his favorite teaching venues and relationships include Signature Theatre, Arlington County Public Schools, Fairfax County Public Schools, The Shakespeare Theatre Company, ArtStream – Gaithersburg / Arlington, Studio Theatre, The Space, Washington Improv Theatre and The City of Gaithersburg
