In the way only Signature can, we bring you Sondheim's journey into the Far East. Spanning 120 years of Japan's fascinating history, Pacific Overtures begins in 1853 with America's first contact and tells the story of Japan's emergence from an isolated country rooted in tradition to its current position at the forefront of international politics. The story is told through the eyes of Kayama and Manjiro - two friends turned bitter enemies as they struggle with traditional and Western influences. With a musical style based on the ancient form of Kabuki theatre, a chamber version of Pacific Overtures will be thrilling in Signature's intimate space.

Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
