This new musical by Tony Award-winner William Finn (Falsettos, A New Brain) premiered last spring at the Lincoln Center Theatre to rave reviews. Finn, known for his clever lyrics and a musical style that mixes elements of pop, rock, R&B and jazz, has created a buoyant, uplifting evening of witty and ultimately touching songs - songs that are a songwriter's heartfelt response to the notable people in his life. The song cycle is united by the underlining idea of loss; in turn funny, tender, biting and quietly devastating, they form a unified tapestry. Signature is pleased to be the first theatre to present Elegies since its premiere. This production marks the first William Finn work that Signature has produced.
