In the musical In The Heights by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes, the character Nina Rosario is keeping a big secret from both her parents and the community that has always believed in her—she has dropped out of college. In this video, Director of Artistic Development Anika Chapin takes us inside Nina's song “Breathe,” in which the music and lyrics give us insight into Nina's internal panic and shows us how the neighborhood's gentle, warm support for her is turned into a source of crushing pressure.
