The Social Media Manager works with staff across the organization to help expand Signature’s reach, brand, and community engagement. The Social Media Manager’s key skills and responsibilities are coming up with creative ideas, monitoring trends, creating engaging content, moderating social chats and interactions, growing Signature’s social media audiences on all channels and maintaining Signature’s brand. The social media manager has excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, is a great researcher, understands Signature’s multiple audiences and how to reach them on social media, loves data, and is driven to continuous learning and growth in the position. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategy
  • Set goals for each social media platform on which Signature is active. Provide regular reports on progress towards those goals.
  • Create a multi-platform strategy for each production, with unique content that works best for the platform.
  • Create and implement strategies to grow user numbers on all active platforms.
  • Continue to find new ways to engage audiences.
  • Advise on when to adopt new platforms or new features on current platforms (for example newer platforms like Lemon8 or features like Instagram channels)
• Planning
  • Create and maintain an organization-wide social media calendar that is open to all staff to view.
  • Pitch multiple ideas for new content regularly for discussion with the team.  
  • Work with staff across departments, including artistic, production, development, education to plan posts that require higher-level cross-departmental communication (ie: an artist take over) a few weeks out.
• Content Creation
  • Create interesting and engaging content, including images/videos and more.
  • Create content that is both directly related to currently running productions as well as more general Signature-related content.
  • Influencers:
    • Cultivate and maintain influencer relationships.
    • Produce live influencer events to promote programming
  • Work with Deputy Director of Marketing, Director of Creative Content for any video content needs and help set up photo and video shoots and run live streamed events.  
  • Work with Publications Director to schedule any design needs with Signature’s graphic designer.
  • Create audiences for all paid campaigns, track results, reassess and refine as needed.
  • Facilitate giveaways and contests.
• Reporting
  • Responsible for tracking Signature’s social media analytics.  
    • Report on content and platform performance on a weekly basis, including cross-platform performance to create a full picture of a posts’ impact.
    • Advise on what additional KPI’s to track and what results indicate success.
  • Track spend and effectiveness of small in-house small campaigns (Signature uses a digital marketing agency for large campaigns) and revise as needed. Understand budgets, maximize spends, and provide back up reporting and cost assignment to finance team.
• Additional Duties  
  • Set agenda for and run weekly social media team meetings.  
  • Work with Publicist on sharing earned media.
  • Constant learning – social media is a fast-changing landscape, continuous learning should be a regular part of this position’s duties.
  • Attend weekly marketing, bi-weekly creative content, and bi-weekly advertising agency meetings and contribute ideas for various campaigns.
  • Work at Signature events and festivals in rotation with other staff.

DIRECT REPORTS AND OTHER REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Social Media Manager reports to the Director of Marketing, with the Deputy Director of Marketing, Director of Creative Content also having supervisory duties for this position in reviewing and approving content ideas. The position works closely with the marketing, development, artistic and education teams. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in social media content creation for a business on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and TikTok.  
• Skill in navigating the backend management of each of these platforms (ie: Meta Business Suite or TikTok analytics).
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education. Minimum three years social media management experience required.
• Skill in taking photos and short videos that look good, and basic level of knowledge creating visual and engaging content using design (Photoshop/Canva) required. Basic knowledge of video editing using tools such as Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere.  Knowledge of how to use a DSLR camera for photo and video a plus.
• Knowledge of theater and or the arts a plus.
• Experience working with high level and celebrity talent.
• Facility with numbers to support budget creation, monitoring, and reporting, including basic spreadsheet knowledge.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Strong public speaking skills.
• Some evening and weekend hours required. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This is primarily an on-site, in-person position. It is a combination of desk work as well as some physical labor involved setting up photo and video shoots.
• Travel would be required locally to attend events and on-site locations for shooting. Travel for conferences in the U.S. (budget dependent). 

COMPENSATION

This is a salaried exempt position, mid-high $50s to low-mid $60s depending on experience and skill; has an excellent package of benefits, including medical, dental, disability and life insurance; paid vacation, sick and parental leave; as well as complimentary and discount tickets. 
 
HOURS PER WEEK  

40 hours per week, flexibility to alter schedule for frequent evening and weekend work required.

This is primarily an on-site position with telework optional 1-2 days per week with Director of Marketing’s approval.

Signature Theatre, a Tony Award-winning, LORT B theater in the Washington DC metro area, seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Finance and Administration to support the organization in financial stewardship, planning, analysis, risk management and human resources functions as a member of the theater’s Senior Staff.

The ideal candidate will have high-level nonprofit financial and operations management experience including financial reporting, projections, and cash flow forecasting. The position requires strong strategic and analytical skills and a firm understanding of non-profit accounting standards and operating procedures. Candidate will provide strong leadership and development opportunities to a staff of three.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain responsibility for all financial records
• Direct and manage day-to-day accounting operations including A/R, A/P, reconciliations, cash management and maintenance of the general ledger
• Oversee Human Resources, including hiring, onboarding, benefits administration and payroll
• Prepare and monitor budgets and projections with senior management
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting
• Develop budgets and projections to support grant applications and reports and maintain accurate records for contributed revenue (restricted/unrestricted grants, multi-year pledges, foundation and government grants, NPV etc)
• Conduct financial planning and analysis to support organizational budgeting and priority-setting
• Protect assets and ensure financial accuracy by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures and internal controls
  • Coordinate and lead the external audit and tax return processes, liaise with accountants and the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors
• Ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP and regulatory requirements
• Manage banking relationships and lead all financial account management
• File and pay organizational taxes, including for meals, sales, real estate and tangible property
• Manage asset schedules and property tax return
• Preside over all organizational insurance and workers compensation packages
• Manage all permits and licenses including business licenses, sales tax exemptions, Food and Restaurant permits, liquor license, solicitation of contributions permits etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have:

• Five or more years in a senior position responsible for 501(c)3 nonprofit financial management, with working knowledge of GAAP, audits, bookkeeping, and relevant regulatory requirements
• Expert computer skills in QuickBooks (or similar), payroll software (ADP or similar) and MS Office, with advanced Excel capabilities, and aptitude for adopting new software and technology tools
• Prior work in a performing arts environment, including experience with labor unions
• Strong strategic and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
• Proven ability to lead, inspire, and sustain staff in a high-demand industry, fostering a culture of resilience and purpose

COMPENSATION

The Director of Finance & Administration is a full time, annual exempt position with a salary in the $100,000 to $110,000 range. LOCATION AND IN-OFFICE REQUIREMENTS

Signature Theatre, a Tony Award®-winning, non-profit professional theater, in Arlington, Virginia seeks a part-time House Manager. House Managers are responsible for providing a high standard of guest service to achieve and maintain customer loyalty, maximize revenue for the Signature Shop, and directly supervise members of the Signatures Usher and Volunteer teams. House Managers report to the Guest Services Manager and the Guest Services Coordinator. House Managers are expected to provide the best patron experience possible at mainstage Signature productions, cabarets, and other events throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide a high level of guest services dealing with all comments, complaints, and points raised by the public in Front of House areas and following up these points by immediate action or in consultation with the Guest Services Manager and/or Guest Services Coordinator.
• Responsible for the safety of the audience, in case of an emergency and take the proper steps to either evacuate or secure the audience members. Handling all emergency situations in a calm and instructive manner.
• Work proactively to anticipate the needs of patrons and Signature Theatre.
• Maintains ticket-scanning equipment, assistive listening devices, GalaPro captioning devices and walkie-talkies for communicating with stage manager.
• Maintain the Signature Theatre Shop, including inventory checks.
• Work in conjunction with the Stage Management team to coordinate performance timelines, including preshow chat, late seating, curtain speeches, and intermission.
• Maintain cleanliness and order during performances for all front of house areas, including lobbies, theatre spaces, restrooms, Shop and coat check.
• Set-up and restore the house prior to and after each performance.
• Serve as an active member of the Front of House department and support the Guest Services Manager and Guest Services Coordinator in upkeep of the department by attending team teetings, assisting with Usher and Volunteer Trainings, and completing other assigned special projects.
• Directly supervise members of the Signature Usher & Volunteer Corps while on duty.
• Write and distribute performance reports and incident reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience working live events and/or customer service role.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and able to provide excellent customer service and hospitality.
• Team player who can work well in a fast-paced environment.
• First Aid/CPR certified within 6 months of hiring.
• Available to work 20 hours per week including weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances, and climb up/downstairs.
• The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and must lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

COMPENSATION

The House Manager position is a part-time, hourly non-exempt job with an hourly rate of $19.60/hr.

• Be the first called for coverage in cases of last-minute bartender call outs, or other unexpected shift coverage when needed.
• Take weekly inventory of bar supplies.
• Check stock levels and ensure that they are adequate for shows and specialty events.
• Place beer, wine, and liquor orders weekly.
• Assist Guest Services Manager in staff training and cocktail design.
• Work directly with other Front of House staff including House Managers and Box Office Associates to ensure a pleasant experience for guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Meet and greet all patrons entering Signature’s Max or Ark Theatre, checking, or scanning for valid tickets.
• Be personal and pro-active in aiding all guests with the highest level of customer service and hospitality.
• Assist guests by providing accurate directions to seating sections within the theatres.
• Receive and quickly act upon requests or complaints from patrons; refer serious problems to the House Manager on Duty.
• Retain knowledge of the Signature Theatre’s history, staff, and emergency activity procedures.
• Enforce Signatures policies, rules, and Equity regulations.
• Aid the House Manager on duty to patrons in the event of an accident or injury.
• In the event of an emergency, assist in evacuating Signature Theatre, while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
• Perform additional functions and activities as directed by the House Manager on Duty or Front of House Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Other customer service helpful but not required. Training will be provided.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and able to provide excellent customer service and hospitality.
• Must be a team player who is able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Available to work 20 hours per week.

Signature Theatre’s Education Department is conducting an ongoing search for skilled part-time teaching artists for school partnerships, workshops and residencies.

Selected teaching artists will be kept in Signature Education’s teaching artist database and contacted when school partnerships require their specific talents in the classroom. Signature Education is looking for teaching artists with experience teaching acting, directing, voice, dance, playwrighting, technical theatre and theatrical design to middle school and high school students. The need for teaching artists is ongoing and this is a rolling application process.

Basic Duties / Requirements:

• Teaching artists create, oversee and supervise workshops, residencies and lessons as a Signature representative at partnering schools and organizations. Signature Teaching Artists are expected to be supportive, respectful and encouraging toward all students and classroom teachers. While Signature Education will generally not write lesson plans for Teaching Artists, artists will collaborate with Signature representatives, students, school representatives to create lesson plans and materials
• Teaching artists should know that they may teach anywhere within the DMV area and that they will be responsible for handling their own transportation to each school they’re assigned to. Should a workshop present itself that takes place online, teaching artists are requested to run the session with a strong connection to the internet.
• In addition to teaching experience, experience working professionally in theatre is preferred.
• Signature Theatre teaching artists work with diverse student populations and experience levels. Applicants with experience working with diverse populations, including but not limited to non-English, multilingual, neurodiverse, or disabled students are encouraged to apply.
