Signature Theatre

Signature is excited to announce that we will be launching the GalaPro app, a first-of-its-kind mobile app for accessibility that allows patrons to use closed captioning in real time during live performances. Patrons who use captions will be able to access them on demand through their phone at any show they want with this innovative app made specifically for theatergoers. Plus, patrons who use our assistive listening system will be able to augment their experience with GalaPro captions. We will begin testing the program starting with Grand Hotel in April and continue with Spunk and Blackbeard.

GalaPro is flexible, and the app is expertly designed to accommodate everyone. Use the settings on your smartphone or tablet to customize your font size and color or adjust brightness. The app uses a black screen with red or gray font that is only visible to the individual looking at the screen. Airplane mode is always on, so there will be no messages, phone calls or other distractions.

Currently used in many Broadway theatres, GalaPro will enhance the theater experience for all Signature patrons so that no matter which performance you attend or where you are seated you can understand and enjoy the show.

GalaPro can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play.

Don’t have a smartphone? Ask anyone on the Front of House team or Signature staff and we will be happy to lend you one of our in-house devices.

That’s just the start! GalaPro can also provide on demand audio description for patrons who have visual impairments. We plan to implement this service in a second phase. For now, audio description is provided upon request by calling the Box Office at 703 820 9771.
