The offices are alive with summer interns! Meet Emma, Signature Education’s 2016 Summer intern.

Name: Emma Gold

From: Falls Church, VA

School: Columbia University

Long-Term Goals: Being a dramaturg, playwright/director, or even artistic director one day! Ultimately, having a job where I can see shows for free. And for the heck of it, being a Tony voter and/or one of the first primary female theatre critics at the New York Times.

Favorite Musicals: Hamilton, Spring Awakening (specifically Deaf West’s revival), Waitress, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, In the Heights

Favorite Plays: A Streetcar Named Desire, The Humans, The Christians, Blackbird

Favorite Movie: Clueless

Internship Start Date: May 16th, 2016

Internship Duties: Helping out with Signature’s summer programs, Stage One and Overtures; Working on dramaturgy and educational resources for upcoming productions at Signature; General assistance to the education department and people around the offices at Signature

Favorite Things About Signature: The diversity of its seasons! The range in the types of plays and musicals Signature produces in one season is incredible.

Favorite Things About D.C.: Its vibe is relatively low-stress, quiet, and clean. I’m also a fan of the art museums.

General Cool Things About You: A few months ago I consecutively went to the Saturday matinees of two different Broadway shows and saw Meryl Streep at both of them. Also, I recently created my own blog about off-Broadway theatre companies and have been publishing theatre reviews of shows in New York through my school’s newspaper.

What would the name of your debut album be? All That Glitters Is Gold
